Los
Angeles is the first stop where we kick off our shoes and dip our feet into the
Pacific Ocean. Check out a refreshing eco-friendly approach to travel as host
Maria Warman uncovers where to stay, eat and shop green while spending a day getting
involved in the community.
Synopsis: Arriving at LAX, Maria weighs
in on transportation options to navigate the city and reach The Ambrose, an eco-friendly
boutique hotel with a State of California Green Hotel certification. Maria heads
out to the famous Santa Monica pier to participate in a Heal the Bay program that
entails a beach clean up, a discussion on clean, green living and a special encounter
at an aquarium.
Maria visits Fred Segal Fun in Santa Monica's popular shopping
district where she models some chic outfits crafted by the LA-based eco-friendly
clothing line, Sworn Virgins. The final destination is a visit to a trendy LA
eatery, Urth Caffé for some relaxing food and organic drinks.
We travel to Oahu for our second episode
where we attend the 2008 Kokua Festival. In supporting an amazing cause, our host
Maria has the opportunity to talk with various green vendors and listens to some
great musicians.
Synopsis: The Kokua Festival is a show that raises
money and awareness for The Kokua Foundation. The foundation supports environmental
education in the schools and communities of Hawai'i. This is the fifth annual
festival and it brings with it five incredible musicians and sixty green vendors
and non-profits. We take you around the festival to showcase this zero waste concert
and show you organizations that you can volunteer with when visiting Hawaii.
